Online Accounting Degrees in Arkansas

Accountants handle the finances of larger and smaller companies, nonprofit organizations and even the government on a daily basis. Some accountants seek employment in tax preparation offices and help clients find ways to save on their taxes and get higher refunds, while other accountants assist with the daily operations of a major business. Arkansas offers a number of schools that help students complete degrees and find employment in the accounting world, but not all students can afford or have the time to study on campus. Seeking out an online accounting program lets you study and work on your degree from any city in the state.

Everest University

Everest University Online

Corinthian Colleges, Inc. own and operate a number of schools across the country, including both Everest University and Everest University Online. The history of the school dates back to the 1940s when the Fort Lauderdale College of Business and Finance opened in Florida. That school later became Everest University and a chain of schools now bear the same name. Everest University Online started as a distance education program that allowed students to study away from campus. After the college introduced a few online courses, it saw enrollment increase. Everest University Online now grants degrees and certificates to students attending classes online.

Associate’s in Accounting

The Associate’s in Accounting is a two-year program designed to introduce students to accounting and business courses. While not as in depth as more advanced programs, it provides students with a strong foundation that will assist them when applying for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs later. The founders of the program believe that students need to gain skills and experience in a wide range of topics, which is why graduates must take general education courses before taking many of their accounting classes. Many graduates enter the management trainee programs at some of the top businesses in the country, but others work in bookkeeping and as financial clerks or assistants. Coursework in the program covers topics relating to tax preparation, financial law, payroll accounting, tax cost accounting and financial analysis. Graduates can enter the job field with a degree in hand, but a large number of students enroll in other accounting programs through Everest University and other schools.

Strayer University

Accounting and Finance Department

The professors in charge of the courses also teach classes online, and they make themselves readily available to their students over the phone, in person and online. Students can choose a concentration in forensic accounting, international accounting, public accounting, taxation or corporate accounting. When you choose a concentration, you take the same courses as other accountancy students do, but you also take a few specialized classes in your concentration. Students can also take other examinations that will give them a license to practice in a specific area of accounting.
