About Post University

Post University began its existence in 1890 as Matoon Shorthand School and has undergone several updates and expansions since its founding. Other names the school has operated under include Bliss & Harrington’s Business College & School of Shorthand, Waterbury Business College, and Teikyo Post University. The school’s modern name comes from one of the owners of the school who acquired the institution in the late 19th century and expanded the secretarial school to include additional business classes. Today, the school is a private, for-profit institution with a motto of “Post Makes it Personal” and a student body of more than 7,300. There are 20 varsity teams at the university, which has a mascot nicknamed “Swoop” the Eagle. The school’s official colors are orange and purple.
